How do I add a shortcut to Limnu on my IOS device?

Limnu does not currently have an iOS app. What, no App? No Problem!!! Quickly navigate to your Limnu boards page by adding a shortcut to your IOS Home Screen.

Steps to add a shortcut to your Home Screen:

  • 1. Open your Limnu boards page using your Safari browser.

  • 2. At the bottom of the Safari browser select the icon with the arrow pointing up out of the box.

  • 3. Select Add to Home Screen

What are Pins and why should I use them

Use Pins to tag content on the board so that you, and others, can quickly jump to it.

Use Cases for Pins

  • Easily present content on the board to others. Check out this blog postfor details!

  • Define areas on a board for breakout groups

  • Pin content by date, subject area, homework, action items

  • Sketching options for solving a problem or designing something new? Pin each option.

To add a Pin select Add Pin from the Menu with the three dots.
Open the Pin Menu to jump to a Pin or edit the names.

Can I add shapes?

Yes! We have Lines, Ovals, Boxes, and Arrows that you can add to the board.
  • Select the shape you want

  • Select the color and stroke thickness

  • Click and drag to create the shape

Click the shift key after you start drawing to make perfect circles, squares, or vertical and horizontal lines.
Want straight lines instead of our signature fun sketchy look? Go to your profile page and check Straight Lines. This will apply to all shapes.

How do I share my board?

Limnu whiteboards are built for collaboration! Invite others to join your board to sketch and brainstorm in realtime.
  • Select Hamburger menu

  • Select Share Board

  • Share with a secure email invite, shared link or code

Is this a team board? All team members can access team boards on their Team Boards page. Team admins can share and add team members when sharing boards.

What is the difference between Email Invites and Shared Link?

Email invites are more secure than a shared link because only the person who receives the email can join the board. The links in email invites only work once so you can be sure it can't be used by others.
Shared links allow anyone with the link to join the board. If you are on a Pro or Team plan you can turn off link sharing at any time.

What is the share code?

If the person you want to invite has a Limnu account, they can use the code in the Enter Share Code section on their Boards page

How does Video Conference work?

Online collaboration is better when you can hear and see the other person - just like you are in the same room.

To start a Call or Join a video conference

  • Step 1: Click on the Person icon on the lower right.

  • Step 2: Board Admin or Team Members select Start Call. Everyone else on the board select Join Call

  • Step 3: Allow Microphone and Camera

Select the microphone icon to mute or unmute yourself before or you enter a call or during the call

Select Leave call to exit the Video Conference call.

How do I change a whiteboard's name?

You can change the name of the board when you first create it, or on the board after it is created.

When you create a new board you can change the board in the New Board window.

You can also change the board after it's been created.

  1. Select the menu on the bottom left of your board
  2. Type the new name
  3. Select the check to save

Can people easily follow me on a board?

Heck yeah! Take the bull by the horns and be a natural board Leader! When you turn leading on everyone on the board always sees what you see.

How to turn leading on

  1. Go to the person menu at the lower right hand corner of your board.
  2. Select the person icon at the top of the menu.
  3. Select Start Leading (for smaller screens it might just say Leading).

You can lead while the board is in Solo Draw mode (only the admin of the board can draw) or in Collaboration mode (anyone on the board can sketch) so that others can interact with content as you lead them around the board.

Only a board admin can lead. You can give anyone on your board admin access so they can start leading.

Can I export my whiteboard?

You can export pieces of your whiteboard that you can see in a viewport (similar to a screenshot). Move and zoom to the section you want to export and then tap the export button (it's under the notes drawer).

You'll get a few export options. Try turning off Opaque Backgrounds to just get your strokes and lines.

Can I use a Wacom Tablet to draw on Limnu?

Yes you can! It works great. To get the most out of using a Wacom Tablet with a Limnu whiteboard make sure to check out our hotkeys.

What is the best thing to draw with?

You can use any device to draw on Limnu—a mouse, a stylus, or even just your fingers. Some things are going to be better than others but we make sure that Limnu works with many different setups. Here is our ranking of options:

  1. A touch screen with a dedicated stylus combo. This includes iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, Microsoft Surface and Pen, Wacom Cintiq and Pen, and so forth. These all provide the best Limnu experience, and they're what we use when we create our #MadeWithLimnu drawings.
  2. A touch screen with a generic capacitive (powered) stylus. If you can't afford the high-end, this is still a good solution. We have an ongoing Stylus Review series on our blog reviewing various styluses that you should check out.
  3. A tablet without a screen. This is like a mouse in that your hand is disconnected from the screen, but it's much better than a mouse because you're not drawing with a bar of soap. Wacom, Huion, VT, and Ugee all make some great and inexpensive tablets.
  4. A pen mouse! We just recently discovered these. Think of a Wacom tablet and pen... but without the tablet. The pen mouse has all the same internals as a mouse, but it's in the shape of a pen. It can take a little time to get used to, but once you catch on it can be a great tool. Grab one from Amazon.
  5. A touch screen with an unpowered stylus. We rank this below screenless tablets and pen mice because we've found it's actually harder to draw with those cheap styluses with soft rubber tips.
  6. A touch screen with a finger. You'd think pointing directly with your finger instead of a stylus would be better, but it turns out you have less control that way. And since your hand is closer to the screen, you can see less of what you're drawing.
  7. A mouse or a laptop trackpad. As we've mentioned before, drawing with a mouse is like drawing with a bar of soap. And a laptop trackpad is tiny, imprecise, and awkward. You're probably not going to be happy with your drawings when you use either of these. You can get great screenless tablets for under $20 nowadays, so there's really no reason to bother with a mouse or trackpad.

If you are using a desktop or tablet with a keyboard, you can use the keyboard shortcuts as well. See all shortcuts ›
